Wuthering Heights is not exactly what I imagined. This is one of the first books that i’m having trouble finishing. I’m not captivated by the characters. Catherine, above all, is a vindictive, jealous, brat. She is manipulative and ultimately chooses money and what she thinks is a good reputation over Heathcliff. It is ironic because Heathcliff ends up owning both Wuthering Heights and The Grange. Also, most of the characters are either violent or suffer from violence. ‘Love’ is supposed to explain everyone’s actions: Hinley’s violence and actions worsen after his wife (the only person he loves) dies, Heathcliff abuses Isabella because he isn’t able to be with Catherine, Edgar ultimately chooses to marry and endure Catherine for many years because he is ‘blinded by love’. I think the idea of love is twisted in this novel. Ultimately, the book is not one of my favorites. Hopefully I finally finish it this weekend!

When i first read the book, i hated it as well, but my hatred for every single character kept me going, because ultimately, i wanted to see if they got what they deserved. However, its ending reconciled me with the book a little :)
